Omron Electronic Components Europe has announced a new fully sealed, ultra subminiature microswitch providing substantially higher operating and releasing forces compared to existing solutions.
The new bent leaf lever versions of the compact and flexible Omron D2GW microswitch increases operating force up to 1.5N and releasing force up to 0.1N.
As with existing variants of the Omron D2GW, the new switches are totally sealed to IP67 (excluding the terminals on the terminal models) and operate in temperatures of up to 85°C. They maintain the exceptionally small size (8.3mm × 6.5mm × 5.3mm) providing the smallest switch of its type in the industry.
The new models extend the options for applications subjected to water spray or high levels of dust. D2GW switches are ideal for vending machines, smart meters, EV charging stations, security systems, HVAC equipment, white goods, and similar applications where space is at a premium.
They retain the sliding-contact construction, boasting the industry’s smallest size in its class – just 8.3 x 6.5 x 5.3mm. In addition, the lever can now be mounted on either the left or right side of the switch, on both the press-fit terminal and moulded lead-wire versions.
The D2GW switches feature a ground-breaking contact design to maximise performance. Sliding contact construction achieves quiet operation and high contact reliability, wiping away any dust or other impurities. It has double contacts, which serve to improve reliability.
The company delivers the D2GW in a wide variety of styles, with a choice of mounting structures, actuators, and terminal specifications to maximise application flexibility. Further options include press-fit terminals to enable solder-less PCB installation, as well as solder terminals, PCB terminals and moulded wire leads. The D2GW features a symmetrical shape with the push button located in the centre, allowing levers to be added in either direction.
