Emerson has announced the launch of the Rosemount™ 470XA gas chromatograph, designed for easy and quick installation to simplify gas transmission composition measurements.

As natural gas sources evolve towards sustainable and renewable sources such as landfill gas and biogas, the need for more versatile gas chromatographs has increased. Existing models provide the required functionality, but there is additional demand for versions in smaller housings and with more cost-effective solutions.

The Rosemount 470XA meets these and other expectations with a design based on that of the versatile and industry-proven Rosemount™ 770XA gas chromatograph, renowned for its high reliability and wide range of applications. The new product in this segment has a wider range of applications, including measuring gas composition in carbon capture and storage and the transmission of gases from renewable sources such as biogas, biomethane, hydrogen or their mixtures with natural gas.

The 470XA offers the same reliability and accuracy in measuring C6+ BTU/CV components that users have come to expect from Rosemount’s traditional gas chromatography technology, known and used for decades. The added benefit of a more cost effective solution allows the chromatographs to be used in a wider range of new applications.

The colour LCD user interface and easy-to-use software reduce the need for specialist training and guide the operator through common operating and maintenance functions. In addition, pre-installed Rosemount MON2020 software simplifies analyser configuration, maintenance and data collection.

For most applications, the 470XA does not require an additional external enclosure or canopy, reducing the total cost of ownership. A fully serviceable measurement module integrates all critical functional parts into a single enclosure for quick and easy replacement or repair in the field.
