Stadler Polska is in the process of building modern passenger trains for a Lithuanian carrier LTG Link.

As we read on the Lithuanian portal lrt.lt, the contract includes the production of 15 vehicles – nine electric and six battery-powered, capable of covering a distance of up to 120 km without connection to the traction network.

In a published statement, Paweł Sztukowski, Head of Production at Stadler Polska, emphasises that the project is characterised by a high degree of logistical complexity due to the infrastructural differences between the rail systems of Poland and Lithuania. To minimise the risks arising from the different rail gauge, the finished vehicles will be transported to Lithuania by truck. This ingenious solution eliminates the need for track adjustments at the testing or vehicle handover stage.

Each train is built within a production cycle of up to 12 weeks. In addition to delivering the rolling stock, the €226.5 million contract includes comprehensive service support, including maintenance, spare parts supply and technical supervision, until 2037.

According to the schedule, the first train will leave the production line in autumn 2025. Following a series of tests and trial runs, it is planned that the train will be fully implemented into passenger traffic in the second half of 2026.
