In October, the Racibórz-based company signed a contract with DB Fernverkehr AG, represented by Deutsche Bahn AG, a German long-distance passenger rail operator, for the supply of a tandem of track-type lathes. The delivery date for the order was set for 25 May 2027.
According to Maria Oslislo, sales manager at RAFAMET, the tandem will be installed in the newly built ICE rail vehicle plant in Dortmund.

Fun fact: the third-generation ICE is the fastest train in Germany. When it entered service in 2000, it set a new record with a regular top speed of up to 300 kilometres per hour.
Unlike its predecessors, which used motor coaches, the ICE 3’s propulsion is distributed over eight carriages. As a result, it can easily climb hills with a gradient of 4 per cent. Like the ICE 2, the ICE 3 can be combined.
The facility is a new build and will be a state of the art facility for the company.
In the future, the plant will mainly carry out maintenance work on various types of rail vehicles, including long-distance rolling stock.
