One of the world’s largest aircraft manufacturers, Embraer, plans to invest in Poland to set up a production centre for the KC-390 Millennium military multi-role aircraft, upgrade the E190 passenger aircraft to a transport version, produce components for the E2 series and work on advanced aviation technologies, overhauls and training initiatives.

In partnership with local companies, the company could invest up to $3 billion over the next decade and create around 5,000 jobs in the Polish market.

The implementation of aircraft assembly and related maintenance and training services could bring economic benefits of nearly $1 billion and around 600 jobs. In turn, the development of the civil aviation sector could lead to investments of more than $2 billion and the creation of more than 4,400 new jobs over 10 years.

The company recently signed an agreement with the Lukasiewicz Institute of Aviation (iLOT) and will focus on research in materials science, new technologies, aerostructure design and advanced maintenance methods.

Francisco Gomes Neto, President of Embraer, pointed out that the agreement with iLOT is an important element in the development of cooperation with the Polish aviation sector, which has been going on for 25 years. He stressed that Łukasiewicz – iLOT has a world-class reputation in modern aviation technology and that joint activities will bring significant results.

Polish companies are already actively involved in the production of Embraer’s E2 aircraft – seats are produced in Świebodzin, power units in Rzeszów and key engine components in Kalisz, creating more than 1,350 jobs and around $30 million in procurement spending by 2024.

The company is firmly rooted in Europe, with 30% of the E2 aircraft built in the European Union, including Portugal (wings) and France, Germany, Austria, Spain and Belgium (other components). For the military KC-390 Millennium, as much as 42% of components come from the EU.
