A topping-out ceremony has been held at the CANPACK plant expansion site in Bydgoszcz, officially marking the completion of structural works on the new production and warehouse hall. The facility is being delivered in a design & build formula, with ALSTAL Grupa Budowlana responsible for the entire process – from detailed design and coordination of all disciplines to the execution of construction and installation works.
Technical parameters of the facility
The new hall is an industrial building nearly 14 metres high, with a cubic capacity of 215,000 m³ and a 19,000 m² footprint. The structure has been prepared for the installation of an advanced technological line for aluminium can production – specialist foundations for this part of the system are now underway.
High-performance roof – Bauder membrane and siphonic drainage system
The completed stage of works included the assembly of the roof. The roofing was made using a Bauder membrane – a German brand specialising in systems with increased resistance to weather conditions, UV exposure and operational loads. The membrane is combined with mineral wool insulation, ensuring excellent thermal and acoustic performance.
The roof will also feature a siphonic drainage system, enabling rapid water removal from the large roof area and reducing the risk of structural overload during heavy rainfall.

Traditional topping-out ceremony
On 26 November, the General Contractor, the Investor and the project teams met on site to officially raise the wreath.
“I am pleased that, as ALSTAL, we continue the Polish tradition of topping-out. It is an important moment for us – a brief pause to reflect on the work completed and proudly acknowledge that we are building a facility of real significance. This investment will positively impact the development of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region and open new opportunities for our Client, CANPACK”, said Adam Fronczak, Director of the Bydgoszcz Branch, ALSTAL Grupa Budowlana.
This is one of the largest ongoing investments in the region, with a total project value of PLN 440 million. ALSTAL is simultaneously carrying out several areas of works. Currently in progress are: electrical installations, foundations for technological equipment, and reinforced-concrete and structural works in the office and social facilities section. The project is advancing according to schedule, with each stage preparing the facility for the installation of the final production line.
“Today marks more than just another construction milestone for CANPACK – it symbolises our dynamic growth. The new production and warehouse hall delivered by ALSTAL will significantly expand our operational capabilities and enable us to respond even better to the needs of customers in Poland and abroad”, says Marcin Fijałkowski, Group Investments Officer, CANPACK Group.
