Auvidea, an emerging leader in AI, works with Panasonic to scale up production of its innovative AI carrier boards. The German company decided to integrate the production of its customised AI carrier boards into its own facilities and turned to Panasonic Factory Solutions for support in the form of SMT production lines. Panasonic quickly provided the necessary machines and expertise, enabling Auvidea to meet immediate customer demand and become a key partner for long-term production expansion.
In the rapidly evolving AI sector, Auvidea has gained recognition as a leading designer and manufacturer of customised carrier boards based on the NVIDIA Jetson platform. As the only NVIDIA Elite Partner in Europe, Auvidea supplies its products to the rapidly growing machine learning market. The company plays a crucial role in providing the technological components for innovative AI solutions, from improving traffic management to revolutionising efficient agricultural production.
“We initially outsourced some of our production, but this quickly became frustrating,” says Oliver Stelbrink, CTO at Auvidea GmbH. “Our products are highly specialised and often produced in small batches. As a result, our production was often delayed or sidelined in favour of larger projects. That’s why we decided to take full control of our production.
Unlike other manufacturers with long lead times for machines, Panasonic immediately offered the ideal SMT equipment – the Panasonic AM100. The modular Panasonic AM100 can accurately place a wide range of components with a single head. Auvidea continued to grow by introducing a larger Panasonic NPM-W2 machine. They then integrated the entire Panasonic NPM-W2 production line with a printer and installed Panasonic’s PanaCIM software, which supports material management in an intelligent factory.
The NPM-W2 machine line increases productivity and production quality. By integrating the NPM-W2 assembly machine, printer and inspection processes, it is one of the most flexible and versatile pick-and-place solutions on the market. “Panasonic always supports us in configuring the system and responds quickly to all questions and maintenance needs. In the six years we have been working with Panasonic, we have never had a production line downtime,” says Oliver Stelbrink, CTO of Auvidea.
Looking to the future, Auvidea sees Panasonic as a key partner in its plans to double production capacity over the next three years. “Our reputation is built on our ability to quickly design, prototype, test and produce customised solutions for our customers who are leading the AI revolution. Panasonic has been an integral part of our success in delivering on these promises time and time again,” said Stelbrink.
