Siemens is launching its latest innovation in industrial robotics: the SINUMERIK Machine Tool Robot (MTR). This groundbreaking technology represents a significant advance in robot precision and performance, opening the door to new applications in the manufacturing industry.
- A new definition of precision:
The Siemens SINUMERIK Machine Tool Robot delivers up to 300 per cent greater path accuracy for demanding manufacturing processes - Increased productivity and flexibility:
Innovative control concepts enable productivity gains of up to 40 per cent and open up new areas of application - Strong partnerships:
Autonox and Danobat are the first partners to have integrated SINUMERIK Machine Tool Robot with their precision robotic solutions
Siemens’ SINUMERIK Machine Tool Robot expands the already successful SINUMERIK Run MyRobot /Direct Control solution with new functions and robot types.
SINUMERIK MTR enables a huge leap in accuracy and productivity across the entire working area. MTR is based on an intelligent control concept that gives industrial robots the characteristics of machine tools.
This enables the execution of precise paths, even when machining hard materials such as steel, whose strength requires increased cutting forces and greater damping to carry out the machining process.
Compared to conventional industrial robots, SINUMERIK MTR overcomes these challenges thanks to a 200–300 per cent increase in path accuracy and significantly higher dynamic stiffness.
These features make SINUMERIK MTR ideally suited for applications in the aerospace, defence and automotive industries, as well as many other precision robotic applications, including the finishing of 3D-printed metal parts.
In addition to improved accuracy, the new control concept delivers a 20 to 40 per cent increase in productivity. This makes SINUMERIK MTR particularly attractive for applications that do not utilise process forces, including waterjet and laser cutting.
SINUMERIK MTR is controlled by SINUMERIK ONE, Siemens’ digital CNC system. Thanks to its digital twin, it is a key element of digital transformation and helps to simulate and test workflows in a fully virtual environment. SINUMERIK ONE is part of Siemens Xcelerator, Siemens’ open digital business platform.
The first partners to integrate MTR with their robots are Autonox and Danobat.
Autonox Robotics: a proven partner for innovative solutions
Autonox Robotics is a long-standing partner of the SINUMERIK Run MyRobot ecosystem. The company is known for its efficient and reliable robotic solutions, which are used in many industries worldwide.
Autonox offers its customers more precise and efficient machining solutions using dedicated CNC robotic mechanisms.
Danobat: a new player in the precision CNC robotics market
Danobat is an international consortium and a new partner of Siemens. It offers MTR robots, ranging from a compact version with a payload of up to 220 kg and a reach of 2.6 m, to the most robust model, which can handle loads of up to 520 kg and has a reach of 3.6 m.
These robots combine the precision and stability of a machine tool with the agility and flexibility of a 6-axis robot, creating new production possibilities for demanding industries such as aerospace, e-mobility and energy.
Thanks to its partnership with Siemens and the integration of SINUMERIK MTR, Danobat can continue to strengthen its position as one of the leading suppliers of precision robotic solutions and capture new market segments.
